Hey Tribe of the Unfinished,
Alright, let's talk.
Lately, I've been spending a lot of time wrestling with the reality of building anything that matters in a world that feels… messy. Uncertain. It’s a process, right? Shedding the old, predictable maps, facing the unexpected, and trying to forge something new through struggle.
And honestly, as I go through this process myself—especially after a major shift in my own life (more on that in the next issue)—one thing has become crystal clear: trying to do this alone?
It’s exponentially harder.
It’s lonely work.
While this newsletter, Hammer & Anvil, is where I share my dispatches from my own journey—the insights, the struggles, the ideas for navigating this uncharted territory—it’s just one piece of the puzzle.
We need a space to do the work. A place where the ideas we explore here, about facing uncertainty, letting go of rigid plans, and committing to the difficult but rewarding process of creation, could hit the anvil of real life. A place where we can take the messy raw material of our ideas and uncertainties and start forging something new, together.
That's what this is about.
It's about creating a dedicated workshop for the Tribe of the Unfinished. A space for a specific kind of work, for a specific kind of person—those who are tired of waiting for permission and are ready to start building.
This workshop has a name. It's called The Forge.
Forget the pressure to be "on" or to have it all figured out. The Forge is the anti-perfectionism zone. This is where we embrace the messy, the unfinished, the raw material of building a life and work that matters. Think of it less like a polished gallery and more like a shared studio space, littered with experiments and half-finished projects—a reflection of the unpredictable, beautiful process of forging something new.
What does it mean to be part of the Tribe in The Forge?
We Share the Raw Material: Got a half-baked idea for a newsletter? A messy first draft of a project? A business strategy that hit a wall? Share it here. Get honest, supportive feedback from others who understand the struggle of bringing something new into the world. This is about the process, the iteration, the learning by doing—together, in public, embracing the unfinished.
We Take Imperfect Action: Tired of just thinking and planning? The Forge is where we challenge each other to take small, imperfect steps forward on our projects and ideas. Celebrate those small wins, learn from the inevitable stumbles, and keep the momentum going.
We Navigate the Messy Middle, Together: This uncertain landscape is challenging. Feeling stuck, frustrated, or unsure of the next move? This is the space to voice that. Connect with others who are also in the trenches, share your challenges, and tap into the collective energy of people who refuse to wait for permission.
We Find Our People: Connect with other individuals who are shedding the old ways, who are actively seeking mastery and meaning on their own terms. Find people who get why you're choosing the harder, more fulfilling path of building something real, even if it's messy.
Think of The Forge as your co-working space for the builders. It's not about endless chatter; it's about focused engagement on the essential work of taking action on your ideas and forging something new, amplified by the collective energy and unique perspectives of others on a similar journey. It’s where the insights we share in Hammer & Anvil find their expression in the real world.
Ready to Stop Waiting and Start Building (With Us)?
If you're tired of feeling stalled, if you're ready to stop waiting for permission and actually start building, if you're willing to be vulnerable and build imperfectly alongside others… The Forge is calling you.
This isn't just an invitation to "join another Discord." It's an invitation to roll up your sleeves and get to work, with support, in real-time. It's an invitation to accelerate your own journey by connecting with others who are doing the same, starting from wherever we are. It's where the Tribe of the Unfinished works, together.
Your First Mission in The Forge:
Once you join, head to the #introductions channel. Introduce yourself (keep it simple, seriously—no pressure). Then, find the channel we've set up for sharing (it will be easy to spot). Share ONE small, imperfect action you're taking on an idea or project this week. That's it. One concrete step, no matter how small or unfinished it feels.
That simple act is your first step into the workshop. Your first hammer swing on the anvil of building together. It's your public commit to taking action. And honestly? Right now, showing up and taking that first step is the biggest hammer swing you can take.
Ready to forge?
Join The Forge and Build with Your Tribe
I'll be there, sharing my own process, my own struggles, my own imperfect actions as I continue to navigate this journey right alongside you. We're all in this together, figuring it out as we go. Let's build something real, starting from right where we are, embracing the messiness of the process.
Let's stop waiting and start building. Together.
Onward,
Sam
